Course Overview

Pistol 2 picks up where Pistol 1 leaves off and pushes your skills into dynamic shooting. You'll turn into the line of fire and then draw and shoot, engage at varying distances, transition between multiple targets, take on targets of different sizes, and get to grips with the basics of reloading and clearing malfunctions.

Your instructors are qualified trainers and examiners with years of experience behind them. Complete the course and you'll walk away with a certificate of completion.

You'll need to have completed Pistol 1 first. Bring your own pistol, holster and ammunition, just as before — and if you don't have your own kit or a suitable holster, you can hire it on site. We run our courses at our range near I.P. Pavlova, usually in the evenings.

What to bring

• Firearms licence - or by prior arrangement with your instructor
• A semi-automatic pistol - ideally your own; we can lend you one
• Two magazines - loaners available depending on the type
• A holster - outside-the-waistband ideally; we can lend one to suit your pistol
• A magazine pouch - loaners available to suit your pistol
• Your own ammunition - 300 rounds for your pistol (available to buy)
• Sturdy trainers - with ankle support if possible
• Shooting gloves - optional
• Eye and ear protection - free to borrow

A group place (4 hrs) is 250 EUR, or 500 EUR one-to-one.
Please note: ammunition isn't included — you can buy it at the range.

Course outline

• Technique refresher - recapping what you learned in Pistol 1
• Theory & practice - target identification, choosing cover and concealment
• Multiple shots - grip, trigger reset, follow-through...
• Shooting from cover - leaning out, over and under obstacles
• Multiple targets - transitioning left/right and up/down, at varying distances
• Dynamic shooting - side-steps and moving with the pistol
• Advanced handling - tactical and emergency reloads
• Advanced dry fire - the principles and techniques of dry practice
• Building your own practice routine
